In this special episode of Students First, SAC President Dr. Francisco Solis sits down with Jazzmen Wilken, a student in the A.A.S. in American Sign Language program at San Antonio College. Driven by a calling to serve as an interpreter for the deaf community, Jazzmen balances her studies with life as a mother of six – while dedicating countless hours to strengthening her skills and deepening her understanding of the language. She shares how SAC’s immersive, hands-on approach to communication helped her quickly grow in confidence and purpose, and how her journey is shaping her future in service to others.

From her first days at San Antonio College in 1965 to a 42-year career in education, Nancy York’s journey is a testament to the lasting impact of SAC. In this Centennial Spotlight, she reflects on how the college shaped her path – and why she continues to champion its life-changing opportunities for generations of students.
